We actively asset manage our landholdings and built commercial space to deliver further value from the portfolio. Asset management also includes repurposing our built space, where appropriate, re-gearing leases in order to grow our income and managing our Business Space and Natural Resources sites to ensure overheads are minimised and tenants are satisfied.
Our in-house income generation team – including Business Space, Natural Resources and Operations – are key to managing our income producing portfolio including business parks, directly developed commercial units and low-carbon generation schemes.
We work with a number of carefully selected industry partners, including land and property agents, to assist sourcing suitable opportunities, in addition to negotiating the best deals for the business.
Key Achievements in 2018
In 2018, we secured long term lettings on eight new commercial buildings covering a combined space of 300,000 sq ft. This included headline rents secured at the Advanced Manufacturing Park and Logistics North. At the end of 2018, less than 100,000 sq ft of directly built commercial space remained available for lease across the portfolio. Installed low-carbon energy generation on our land also stands at 154.2 MW.
