Global Manufacturer ESCO Pharma Make R-evolution @ Gateway 36 Their New Home

Leading global manufacturer ESCO Pharma have become the second company to move into the R-evolution @ Gateway 36 development in Barnsley after completing a long-term lease of a 13,000 sq. ft unit.

ESCO Pharma is a leading manufacturer of biological safety cabinets, laboratory equipment and instrumentation. The company has a global footprint spanning the US, Europe and Asia and will be expanding from its UK base in Rotherham to the new Gateway 36 development adjacent to Junction 36 of the M1. The move will see the relocation of seven staff with a projected further nine new jobs to be created as ESCO expands into its new home.

ESCO Pharma is the latest company to join the R-evolution @ Gateway 36 following Swedish manufacturer Talurit UK, who were the first tenants to join the development earlier this year.

R-evolution @ Gateway 36 is a 65,000 sq. ft high quality commercial development supported by Barnsley Council’s Property Investment Fund. The fund was established in 2014 to encourage new speculative commercial developments to accommodate expanding local businesses and inward investing companies within the borough.

Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place said: “We are very pleased to welcome ESCO Pharma to R- evolution @ Gateway 36. The Property Investment Fund which supported the development has been a great success in attracting economic growth to the borough and will help to create up to 300 new jobs. We will launch the second stage of the fund shortly, which will work towards our wider plans to bolster confidence in the industrial property market within Barnsley and assist in bringing further development into the borough.”

Matthew Gladstone, Executive Director for Place said: “We are delighted ESCO Pharma have chosen Barnsley as the place to expand their UK base. R-evolution @ Gateway 36 is playing a vital role in attracting new businesses and helping to expand economic growth in the borough.”

David Travis, Business Space Director at Harworth Group plc, said: “ESCO Pharma’s decision to relocate leaves just two available new units – one of 75,000 sq. ft, the other at 22,000 sq. ft – to let at Gateway 36.  With high quality space for small & medium-sized businesses close to the motorway network at a premium in the region, we look forward to welcoming other businesses to Gateway 36 in forthcoming months.”
