As Rolls-Royce performs the ground-breaking ceremony (Thursday 21 June) for its Advanced Blade Casting Facility at Waverley Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), AMP landowner Harworth Estates anticipates further leading edge manufacturers being attracted to the development. The AMP is at the core of Sheffield City Region LEP’s Enterprise Zone.
Owen Michaelson, Harworth Estates’ managing director, comments:
“Harworth Estates is attracting the world’s leading manufacturers to Waverley Advanced Manufacturing Park in order to help deliver a large number of high end jobs to the region.
“This latest Rolls-Royce development adds to the AMP’s international reputation. With further land now available, and with the AMP being an integral element of Sheffield City Region’s Enterprise Zone, we anticipate that further World Class manufacturers will join Rolls-Royce at the AMP.”
The Advanced Blade Casting Facility will manufacture advanced single crystal turbine blade castings for large civil Trent engines, focused on high and intermediate pressure turbine blades which deliver key aspects of competitive engine performance, making them critical components for the engine. The 14,000m2 facility will create over 150 new jobs in the Sheffield/Rotherham area when fully operational. The first components are expected to be delivered in late 2014.
