Harworth Appoints Head of Mixed Tenure to Broaden its Residential Products Range

Harworth Group plc, a leading regenerator of land and property for sustainable development and investment, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Crow as Head of Mixed Tenure.

Reporting to Chief Operating Officer Andrew Blackshaw, James will be responsible for broadening Harworth’s residential product range, which was identified as one of the key growth drivers of Harworth’s recently-announced strategy to double the size of its business over the next five to seven years. Initially, James will oversee the development of a portfolio of up to 2,000 mixed tenure units, with an initial seed portfolio of up to 600 units launching in 2022.

James is a Chartered Surveyor and has significant residential development experience, working variously as a funder, operator, developer and consultant across multiple tenures including build to rent, private for sale, affordable, later living and student accommodation.

Most recently, James was Head of Investments and Development Management at ENGIE Regeneration, where he was responsible for developing partnerships and securing inward investment from funding partners for ENGIE’s land holdings, most notably for its 2,300-home Rugeley Power Station regeneration scheme. James joined ENGIE following its acquisition of Keepmoat Regeneration, which he joined in 2017 as Director of PRS and Residential Investments. Prior to this, he held development roles in Balfour Beaty Investment’s student and build to rent products portfolio and Quintain’s iQ Student Accommodation business.

“I am delighted to welcome James to Harworth. James brings with him extensive expertise in residential development across a broad range of products, and he’ll play a fundamental role in delivering our strategy and our purpose of creating sustainable places where people want to live and work.”

Lynda Shillaw, Chief Executive, Harworth Group plc

“I look forward to working closely with James to develop our mixed-tenure product. Harworth’s extensive portfolio lends itself particularly well to delivering institutional quality single-family homes in a volume that can deliver the required return on investment, and James’ expertise can help us to unlock that potential across our sites.”

Andrew Blackshaw, Chief Operating Officer, Harworth Group plc

“I am thrilled to be joining Harworth at such a pivotal moment for the company, as it steps into its exciting and ambitious strategy. I am passionate about sustainable place making, and Harworth’s approach to development resonates strongly with me. I look forward to working with the team to further enhance Harworth’s residential product offering.”
