Harworth Estates wins planning appeal and secures planning consent for 400 homes at Mapplewell, Barnsley

Harworth Estates has won a landmark planning appeal against the refusal of planning consent by Barnsley Council for 400 new homes at Mapplewell, Barnsley. The scheme will see the remediation and regeneration of the former North Gawber Colliery that will clean up this brownfield industrial site and provide a range of new family houses.

The appeal was allowed and planning permission was granted by the Secretaryof State on 18 January 2012. Commenting on the approval, Duncan Armstrong-Payne, Development Manager at Harworth Estates said:
