The Minister’s tour came as part of a scheduled visit that also included the launch of the AMRC training centre (http://www.amrctraining.co.uk/) where 250 apprentices a year will be trained within revolutionary facilities to become the leading engineers of the future.
He recognised the importance of the facility within the wider Waverley development, adding that he was ‘gobsmacked’ about the number of high-quality companies that are already based here, creating new jobs and adding millions of pounds to the local economy.
He also saw the next phase of housing being built at Waverley by Barratts, Harron Homes and Taylor Wimpey. The 500th home at Waverley will be built by the end of 2014 and will be accompanied by new road infrastructure and community facilities.
