Development Progress
Following occupation of the first home during Christmas 2012, there are now over 1,000 families living at Waverley. A range of quality homes have been built by Avant, Taylor Wimpey, Barratt Homes and Harron Homes. Sky-House – a modern re-imagining of Victorian ‘back-to-back’ terraced homes with sky gardens – has also completed the build out of 44 uniquely designed homes with Phase 2 now on-site to deliver a further 44 ready for occupation in Summer 2022. Over 1,800 residential plots have now been sold at Waverley in total with further plots coming soon.
The site is currently expanding at a rate of around 150 homes per year with strong sales reported by all housebuilders, reflecting the popularity of the site and the speed at which Harworth has made land available. This has created the birth of a new community and once fully built out over the next 10 years, will see a bustling population of around 9,000 people living in a green and attractive lakeside development.
As part of the wider masterplan, Harworth also recently delivered a new primary school in partnership with Rotherham Borough Council, which opened for its first term in Autumn 2020.
Exciting plans to build Olive Lane – a new 10-acre mixed-use scheme – are now underway to form the ‘heart of the community’ with the vibrant centre bringing forward retail uses, a gym, offices, restaurants, cafes, supermarket, a medical centre, a community space, a bus hub, in addition to further residential units.
