Pontefract Consultation Events a Success

The events were held for the Council to show local residents their plans for the Northern Relief Road that will use part of the former Prince of Wales Colliery spoil heap.  Harworth Estates also explained the latest position on their Prince of Wales housing development and what residents could expect to see in 2014.

The plans will bring a number of benefits to Pontefract, helping to ease local traffic congestion whilst opening up further land for future housing and employment development.

Construction of the road is expected to begin in April 2014, with completion expected in December 2014.  It is being funded through a mixture of a Department of Transport pinchpoint grant, Wakefield Council monies, a West Yorkshire Transport fund grant and loan from the Leeds City Region LEP and developer contributions.
