We have transformed a reclaimed former industrial site into a thriving new 740 acre development, including 250 acres for nearly 4,000 consented homes.
It comprises an Advanced Manufacturing Park with world-leading employers such as Rolls-Royce and Boeing, employment development and a new community that will eventually comprise of up to 3890 homes along with shops, restaurants, primary school, leisure & community facilities and parks. Just two minutes from Junction 33 of the M1 and at the heart of the Sheffield City Region, Waverley is Yorkshire’s largest ever brownfield mixed-use development.
Following over 10 years of surface mine coal extraction, significant private investment and ground preparation works lasting a number of years, Harworth secured outline planning consent for the development in 2011. The vision for Waverley was to provide a sustainable, mixed use development and is expected to contribute over £1 billion to the local economy as it is built over the next 15 years.
As landowner and overall custodian of Waverley, Harworth works closely with housebuilders and future commercial occupiers to assist in the planning process and ensure that the development is of high quality design and landscaping, helping to shape the future of the site. Harron Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Barratt have built 500 homes between 2012 and 2016, whilst 1m sq. ft has already been developed at the Advanced Manufacturing Park for occupiers such as Rolls-Royce and Boeing.
Its completion over this time will create a bustling community of 9,000 people, living in a green & attractive lakeside community. Through the Advanced Manufacturing Park and adjoining commercial developments, Waverley will also create over 3,500 new jobs and is estimated to add £300m in Gross Value Added to the local economy once fully developed.
